busy

Been busy of late. First was the in-camp training, being back with my buddies, the usual jabs about our weight, comparing my lowly wages against some truly astronomical ones (i swear i'm gonna put my future kids in business school), talking about the good ol' days...the usual shit. The army's really changed alot since my days (gosh, really feel old) The pic of the canned coffee and M&M's? Thats part of my combat rations(!), fo'real! i ain't kidding
I've never dread going back camp, i just take it as a get-together session/getaway from work kind of thing. Call me a freak or sadist, i quite enjoy the military, ha! The shooting-the-shit sessions to real-life shoot-ups pretty much taught me everything i needed to know about life when i was a scrawny 18 year-old, and i do appreciate that.

Well, good things come to end and i had to get back to the real world (and tons of work in the office) soon enough. I was also nursing a bad case of sunburn...the price to pay for bronze skin! Thankfully i had some lovely mail to get by. (Yet) Another camo tee (i seriously love camo), my precious street bible from the awesome dudes at streetwear today, and a quirky little book from my pal Sal.

Also got a nice gift for V-day waiting for me to unwrap, some nice tartans! I don't know how i do it, but i seem to run through wallets real quick, just as i go through the $$ in my bank account...hmmm

Some lovely bouquets for Ting and Yanz

Managed to pop out the odd Undercover tee to match my new tan as i went to catch Brokeback Mountain. Lovely little tale by Lee Ang, coupling the awesome scenes with poignant touches. It was pretty touching, especially the end where Jack's and Ennis' shirt entwined with each other. Go catch it to understand all the talk before the Oscars!

Chick flicks & apparel
Gals' apparel don't get mentioned enough here,
so go check out Hellz Bellz for some nice designs:

Absolutely love the "Salaam" print!

Not to forget our lovely local ladies @ FruFru & Tigerlily. A nice selection of apparel, accessories and bags

Pity the necklaces are all gone, but hit them back for more!

Last link, for some friends downunder: Young Lover Clothing are the "hearbeat of the pavement, the gum on your sneakers". Some nice looks there, promising stuff.

Tell them you heard from me yeah?

A little colder-than-expected saturday brought out this "masterpiece" of a L/S tee. I absolutely love the reworking of the classic Stussy Lion.

On the same topic, check out Resonate's rework of the Stussy Rasta all-over print:

Farewell

Farewell to Ibrahim and god bless his soul. I didn't get the news till i was in-camp. Just the day before i left home, i asked 'Fiz to help me keep tabs on Ibby's health. Never did i know i'd get a text message the next day that Ibby had passed away. At that moment, it didn't matter when he left this world...i knew i had already lost him and a whole lot more.
When i saw him 2 weeks back, he was frail and a fraction of the buddy whom i knew and loved. It pained my heart to see him in the condition and i knew it must have been worse for him. But anyone could see the determination in his eyes, the frustration wrought in his fists as he fought to sit up and yearn for the day he could walk out in the sun. I'll forever remember his words "don't worry, i'll be back in 2 weeks and be alrite"
"ibrahim_6061"
I met him online through our love for shoes a couple years back. Hours of chatting on irc and msn later, i knew i had found a great buddy who shared so many interests and thoughts. He knew his stuff for sure, a library of knowledge on his loves: air maxes, adidas jackets, rifts, Mandy Moore and...all things pink.
I remember the rides he gave when we scoped out the shops in town, the chill out walks, the tees we loved, his love for photography. I remember the twinkle in his eyes as we both won the raffle for adidas bapes, and his proclamation of "being the dude with the lucky streak" as he won yet another raffle for LeBron COFs. No Ibby, i was the lucky one to have known you.

I visited his parents just the other day. I don't think anyone could take away the pride they felt for their brave boy who was a fighter all the way, and such a filial son to them. I learnt that Ibby managed to win his fight to get out the hospital bed and finally realising his wishes to be at home.
Ibrahim brother, I don'have much physical items to remember you by, but this photo taken by you on one of our chill out coffee breaks will definitely be treasured.

The tee on the right is a special 2of2 prints i made for him during the Limited Edition "RANK" exhibition. It shows our 2 great loves: cute chicks and hot shoes.

I'm sorry i wasn't there for you at your last hour and i thank and treasure the times we had spent.
i miss you already

New Year & misc pix, yo
Its been a pretty relaxing and well-taken rest the past week. Food's been good to me (my tummy's testament to that) and its great to meet up with friends and fam during the festivities. House visits are de riguer, or course. Its traditional to wear new clothes as the superstition represents a fresh start to the new year. The weather doesn't really permit much permutations in clothing, which is just as well...i have too many tees anyway.

Purple Lacoste x Levis x Junya Watanabe CDG x Bape Sta denims (boxfresh y'all)

GDEHUK "Doggienough" tee in color-of-moment purple and to match the year of the Dog

"Zoopreme" and Stussy x Nike "XXV" x Stussy camo berms

Thank god i bought larger sizes, i think i must have grown 1 size up from all the food i've been stuffing...bleah

The news have been all over the net by now. Go check out the adicolor series revived by adidas. No longer confined to the Superstar, the customization spirit has expanded to other footwear ranges and collaborations with more mouth watering labels ala 35th anniversary.

Why the pic above? Not much reason...oh btw, Kanye's new vid for "touch the sky" has him playing the role of Evel Knievel. Directed by Chris Milk, its so huge, its got its own trailer. Catch him perfom at the Grammy's next week. Word is Pam Anderson will dance with him on stage(!)

Got a low cost "media-set" (i made that up) couple days ago so i could watch the dvd's in the comfort of my room...CD/VCD/DVD/MP3/CD-RW/tuner/cassette (they still produce those things these days?)

Sharing some rare real estate on the shelf, its prob the only place where you can spot empty areas in my room, ha. Pic of the left shows some of the promo flyers for "french connection" label. Shout-outs to Eve @ Gamut: props!

FEARLESS
Catch this movie for its the last martial arts film for Jet Li (before moving to other drama exploits). Its seriously the best Jet Li film since Once upon a time in China. While the cinematic edit is lacking in certain places, its still an awesome display of Jets' prowess. Getting the DVD fo' sure.

Just one more day to Super Sunday. Sadly, i'll be at work once kickoff gets underway...timezone sucks.
